Post subject: How has BSB affected my life? Let me tell you a story... Reply with quote

My husband and I went through almost seven years of trying to have a baby. We did everything from trying on our own to going through three sessions of IVF. Nothing seemed to work and every moment was heartbreaking.

In June 2005, I was watching television on a Sunday afternoon. A special about adoptions came on and it was following these two families who were going through the process of adopting babies from Siberia. After watching, all I could think is that we should do that. We have Siberian Huskies, so why not a Siberian kid? Stupid, yes, but made sense at the time. It was that next Tuesday that Never Gone was released. That's when I heard the song Siberia. I played it again, and again, and again (and again, and again, and again). Although the song itself is pretty depressing, I didn't think about that. In my mind, all I was doing was believing that BSB has handed me a sign -- "DO IT!!"

So I got online and started my research. Figured out pretty quickly that Siberia was out of the question for us, but it did push me into researching adoption. By mid-July we had our agency and had done the initial interview with them. Our adoption classes started the first weekend in August. On September 15th we were eligible to adopt. In January we were matched with a birth-mom. And in February our daughter was born.

Would we have went with adoption without that song playing over and over reminding me of the feeling of hope? Probably. Would we have our little Keeley if it weren't for BSB and Siberia? No, we wouldn't. I truly believe that that song gave me the push that we needed.

So, the question is how has BSB affected my life? BSB has affected my life in the biggest way I could possibly imagine...they gave me my angel, my life...my daughter, Keeley Teresa Day.
