The Mature Fan Club™ for the Backstreet Boys, as it was originally named, started back on the message board on the Backstreet Boys official website on July 24, 1999. That night, a small group of posters who seemed "older" than the rest of the group found one another. They began a discussion about forming a club for what seemed to be a small minority of older fans. Their discussions about the Backstreet Boys, their music, and their charity work led them to realize there were others out there with the same enthusiasm and point of view. Thus, the first club for BSB fans age 25 and up was born.

One truly unique thing about the Mature Fan Club™ is the fact that it began on the internet. It originated in five different parts of North America - California, Texas, Canada, Kentucky and Maryland. The idea of a fan club of members that were over the age of twenty-five was unheard of and at many times ridiculed, but our founding sisters TAMU, Sweet Rad, High on Life and Wild for Rok perservered because they believed in their idea. It started small, but quickly grew. The members embraced the idea and word spread...making the MFC™ what it is today. The Mature Fan Club™ has truly grown into a community. So many people have met their best friends, found a support system, found friends they never expected, and became part of an online family, all through the MFC™.
